What is CounterPressure filling?

When counter pressure filling, the bottle receiving the liquid is first purged with pressure (Normally CO2) and then the bottle is filled with the liquid while maintaining pressure.

Are CounterPressure fillers just for beer or can
other things be filled as well?

Soda and sparkling wine (Champagne) can be filled under pressure with a CounterPressure filler, as well as beer. Substantial savings can be made when making your own beverages, and artificially carbonating them.

Why is a CounterPressure filler better then natural pressurizing?

There are many reasons for using a CounterPressure filler instead of using the natural yeast process.

1. You don't have to teach a new comer to homemade products how to pour from a bottle
as there is no yeast in the bottle.

2. You don't have to worry about bottles exploding as you know exactly how much pressure there is in each bottle.

3. A CounterPressure filler can be used even if you wish to carbonate your beverage naturally with yeast and sugar. You just won't have the yeast in the bottle.

4. Using artificial carbonation eliminates the worry about gushers. You know how much pressure is in the bottle.

5. You can filter your beverage so it is as perfectly clear in the bottle as the commercially made counterpart.

Frequently asked Questions

How is this filler operated:?
Answer. Push the Yellow handle on the right side back
and place a bottle under the filler head, then pull the handle forward to lock the bottle on the filler. (The lock is an over the center toggle which locks the bottle to the head. Units have been tested to pressures in excess of 90psi.) Once the bottle is secured pull the left hand (Blue) lever to the upright position. This will fill the bottle with CO2 forcing the air out through the bleed valve. Once the bottle is purged bring the Blue handle forward and the beverage will flow into the bottle. (It couldn't be simpler there is nothing to hold during the filling process.)

What size bottles can be filled?
Answer. Any bottle that does not exceed 18 inches in height. This includes all two liter soda bottles as well as oversized beer and wine bottles.

Does the filler carbonate the beverage?
Answer. No. Carbonation is done prior to bottle filling. The filler is to keep the carbonation in the beverage as it is being transferred from the larger container to the smaller using container.(For additional information on carbonation see "Tiny Bubbles: The Art of Carbonation."

Does the filler cap the bottle?
Answer. No. A separate capper or corker is used.

How long does it take to fill a bottle?
Answer. Filling rate must be controlled by the foaming and gushing of the product. Normally five gallons of beer can be bottled in about twenty minutes.

Why don't you use a filler tube that runs to the bottom of the bottle?
Answer. A filling tube can be used if desired. We have not found it necessary as the CO2 is heavier then air and fills the bottle preventing any oxidation during the filling process. A tube to the bottom of the bottle makes it more difficult to handle the bottle once it is filled.

What is different from your counter pressure filler from the others on the market?
Answer. A: The unit is constructed of aluminum which makes it light weight.
B: The head is made from Dupont Delrin, a plastic much like Nylon with better machining capabilities and Delrin does not absorb liquids like Nylon. All other parts are made from Stainless Steel, Brass or Aluminum.
C: The unit is small enough to be stored in small places and operated on a bench top.
D: We sell directly to you without the middle man's profit.

Is there a copy of your book "Tiny Bubbles" included?
Answer. Yes. The book is included with every unit we ship along with a complete parts list.

Is this a complete bottling system or do I need other equipment?

You will need a complete CO2 pressurizing system which includes a tank of CO2 and a regulator. These units can be purchased locally at any welding supply shop.

What would a complete system look like,
including the equipment I have to furnish?

Here is a picture of the complete setup. In this case I am using a 5-gallon soda container, in which my beverage has been carbonated. You do not need a pressure tank like this. Most any tank (including a plastic soda container) can be used for pre-carbonating your beverage.
